What is the origin of “Aka-Chan Fude?”

You only have the one opportunity to cut baby’s first hair.
Japanese tradition believes that this baby hair is a “Treasure of life” which holds great powers which are encapsulated within the “Aka-Chan Fude”.

How much hair is required to make an
“Aka-Chan Fude?”

Hair should be between 2 and 3 inches or 5 to 6
centimetres in length. For a large brush hair should be slightly thicker than an adults little finger and for a small brush hair should be approximately as thick as a pencil.

  What is the best way to cut my Baby’s hair?
 
1) Lift the hair away from the head in your hand.
2) Place a comb between baby’s head and your hand.
3) Make the cut with scissors above the comb.
4) Wrap baby’s hair neatly as shown in the diagram.
5) Place the neatly wrapped packet into an envelope.

If my baby has insufficient hair to cut,
what are my options?

Basically, “Aka-Chan Fude” is produced with the hair we
receive from you but you do have one or two options available.
For example, You can wait until baby’s hair grows again and re-cut. You can use a parents or siblings hair as the ‘core’, which is surrounded by the baby’s own hair.

curly or frizzy hair?

Yes, we have processes in place to prepare any hair type
